The objective of Modeling with the Masters® (MWTM) is to introduce the modeler to the skills and techniques necessary to successfully scratch build using wood as the primary material. The clinic will also introduce various tools that may be used in model construction. The purpose of this clinic is not to construct a contest-grade model, although that may be possible. Successful completion of the scratch build project may earn Achievement Program consideration or credit for the modeler.
PNR’s Modeling with the Masters® Team is offering a convention related activity at the 2025 PNR Region Convention in Pasco. The MWTM activity is conducted under the purview and authority of PNR and is not a convention host committee responsibility. This year’s activity challenge will be building a section tool house from wood (see below picture for example). The activity will be conducted in HO Scale. While not a specific objective of the activity, proper completion of the challenge may support evaluation for and award of an Achievement Program (AP) Merit Award. Because of the limited time available for the activity, some modelers may not complete the challenge during the activity time.
Modeling with the Masters® is an extra-fare activity. The estimated cost for this year’s activity, the Section Tool House Challenge, is $60 per modeler. You can sign up for the MWTM activity through the convention registration process. The attendee is responsible for travel, housing, and food costs associated with attendance to the convention.
